RAF chopper left in field near Bere Regis after precautionary landing

A 10-TONNE helicopter has broken down – and landed in a Bere Regis field.

The crew of an RAF chinnock, from 7 Squadron based at RAF Odiham in Hampshire, carried out a “precautionary landing” in a field near the town on Thursday (July 11) – but have not yet taken it away.

An RAF spokesperson said the aircraft suffered a technical issue and the crew carried out the landing.

Engineers have identified a fault within the hydraulic system and are working to repair the issue, they said.

They thanked the landowner and locals for their patience.
