POOLE-born rugby sevens star Amy Wilson-Hardy has been withdrawn from the Team GB squad on medical grounds after becoming embroiled in a racism row over a WhatsApp message.
The 32-year-old, who plays for Ealing Trailfinders, was the subject of an Instagram post which featured a WhatsApp message in which she was alleged to have made a racist comment.
Yesterday (July 29), the British Olympic Association (BOA) said it was investigating the claim, which involved a comment by Wilson-Hardy after she sent a picture of herself wearing a dark facemask.
Today, a BOA spokesperson confirmed she would take no further part in the Games but stopped short of mentioning the controversy.

Wilson-Hardy played in Team GB’s quarter final defeat to the USA on Monday night, but will miss the team’s final matches this afternoon (Tuesday).
