SCHOOL residential and activity specialist Cumulus Outdoors has expanded its offering by purchasing Dorset Adventure Park.
The popular leisure destination features a waterpark and mud trail set within 18 acres of woodland and lakes overlooking Corfe Castle.
Swanage-based Cumulus Outdoors already runs bespoke school and youth group residential programmes at the site, and they say this move to acquire the park represents a significant milestone to the company’s mission to “inspire optimism and happiness in young people through outdoor learning and experiences.”
The new owners, Tom Campbell-Hill and Sam Thompson – directors at Cumulus Outdoors, say they will ensure a “smooth integration process” for the park and its workforce when the acquisition takes place in November and customers will continue to enjoy the same “exceptional” service and experiences – now supported by Cumulus Outdoors.
Mr Campbell-Hill, said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to acquire the Dorset Adventure Park.
“We are excited by the range of opportunities this acquisition will provide to our school and youth groups as well as families and other groups, both visitors to our wonderful region and the local community.”
As well as delivering school trip sand activity days, Cumulus Outdoors also offers Duke of Edinburgh gold residentials and walking expeditions along the Jurassic coast.
A spokesperson for Cumulus Outdoors said: “Many of the bespoke school and youth group residential programmes currently delivered by Cumulus include the popular activities at the Dorset Adventure Park.
“The collaboration between these sister companies will enable further development of the range of exciting activities available to young people, their families and other groups.
“This partnership solidifies Cumulus Outdoors’ position as the residential and activity specialists in the region, while offering significant opportunities to expand the range of exciting outdoor opportunities.
Dorset Waterpark was founded in 2015 by its co-directors Liz and Rob Mulliner.
The site spans 18 acres and features two spacious lakes, which originally served as fishing lakes.
Over the years, investment transformed these lakes into a vibrant outdoor attraction, now home to two large inflatable obstacle courses, a mud run, changing rooms, showers, and a café.
In 2022, Dorset Waterpark rebranded as Dorset Adventure Park to better reflect its expanded offering, including the mud run alongside water-based activities and to allow room for future growth.
