Fire service called in after flash flood in Dorchester

SOME Dorchester residents had an early start to the day after a flash flood hit a home in the town.

The fire service was called to Kings Road at 3.38am this morning (August 29) after heavy rainfall led to a flash flood.

The crew attended to help residents and ensure electrics were safe, before leaving at 5.19am.

Parts of the south saw adverse weather yesterday following the aftermath of Hurricane Erin moving across the Atlantic.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning, with the forecaster suggesting people could expect to see some flooding as well as power cuts.

A Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “One crew from Dorchester were called to reports of flash flooding in a property in Kings Road, Dorchester at 3.38am this morning.

“The crew supported the residents in making sure the electrics were safe and we were able to put them in touch with the local authority for further support. The stop message was received at 5.19am.”
