IT’S READY, steady and get muddy when the much-anticipated Dorset Mud Run returns for a weekend of laughter, teamwork and trail-blazing fun.
This year’s run on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May at the picturesque Stock Gaylard Estate near Sturminster Newton promises to be bigger, bolder and messier than ever.
The event invites runners, walkers and weekend warriors to throw themselves into a 6km course packed with more than 15 fun but demanding obstacles.
The route winds through ancient oak woodland and across rolling Dorset countryside, with participants tackling everything from hurdle jumps and cargo-net crawls to muddy hills, swinging ditches and pond wades.
It is not about setting records, organisers say, but about teamwork, determination and plenty of laughs along the way.

A team of upbeat stewards will be on hand throughout the course, cheering competitors on as they slip, slide and scramble their way to the finish line – where a free beer or soft drink and a Dorset Mud Run t-shirt await as a well-earned reward.
The event is designed for friends, families and colleagues looking for a new kind of challenge, with a 10% discount available for teams of five or more.
Entry costs £44 per person and participants can choose to take part on one day – or both, for those keen to double the challenge.
Organisers advise competitors to dress for the conditions with warm, lightweight running clothes and grippy footwear essential.
Mud, water and the occasional chill are all part of the fun, while sunnier weather calls for suncream and a hat.
A towel and warm change of clothes are also strongly recommended for afterwards.
Whether chasing a personal challenge or simply looking for a memorable day out with friends, the Dorset Mud Run offers a unique way to enjoy the great outdoors – and get gloriously muddy while doing it.
