Cyclist, 14, in life-threatening condition after crash near Lychett Matravers

A 14-YEAR-OLD boy suffered ‘life-threatening injuries’ in a crash near Lychett Matravers this morning (June 19).

The crash happened at 7.44am on Wednesday morning at Huntick Road, near the The Courtyard Craft Centre, involving a white Volkswagen Up! and a bicycle.

The cyclist – a 14-year-old boy – was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are believed to be life-threatening. His family has been informed.

Road closures were put in place to allow emergency services to respond to the incident and for a full examination of the scene to be conducted.

Sergeant Tracey Downer, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the child who was seriously injured as a result of this collision and his family at this difficult time for them all.

“We are continuing to carry out enquiries as we seek to establish the full circumstances of the collision and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact with us.

“I would also urge any motorists with dashcam fitted who were travelling in the vicinity to please review their footage for anything of relevance.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures. These are absolutely necessary to allow the emergency services to respond and for a full examination of the collision scene to be carried out.”
