POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a pregnant woman and her baby were seriously injured in a collision involving an e-bike in Poole.
The incident happened at around 3.50pm on Monday, January 26, in Herbert Avenue, near the junction with Manor Avenue.
Dorset Police said the collision involved an e-bike and a pedestrian, and that the rider of the e-bike is reported to have failed to stop at the scene.
The pedestrian, a woman in her 30s who was pregnant at the time, attended hospital for treatment.
Her baby has since been born and remains in hospital in a serious condition.
Officers from the Roads Policing Team are carrying out a full investigation and are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have relevant dashcam footage, to come forward.
PC Dan Blagden said: “We are carrying out a full investigation into the circumstances of this collision and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please contact us.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured relevant dashcam footage or witnessed the manner of the riding of the e-bike prior to the collision.
“We understand there was a pillion passenger on the e-bike at the time of the incident and we would ask this person and the rider to come forward and speak to police.”
