At around 9pm on Thursday July 4, a woman in her 50s was in her vehicle in stationary traffic on East Street when another car, described as grey or blue and possibly a hatchback, pulled in front of her.
A woman who was known to her got out of the vehicle and approached the victim before reportedly assaulting her and stealing her car and house keys.
The woman then reportedly got back into her vehicle and drove off.
The victim did not sustain any serious injuries that required immediate medical treatment.
Following enquiries, a 35-year-old Bournemouth woman was arrested on suspicion of robbery. She has been released on police bail as further enquiries are carried out.
Sergeant Mia Jakeman, of Dorset Police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened to please make contact with us.
“I would also urge motorists who were in the area around the relevant time to please review any dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything that might assist our enquiries.”
