Knife-point burglar who targeted homes days apart gets 10 years

A ROBBER who stole a car and carried out two knife-threatening raids within days has been jailed for ten years.

Ben Murray, 34, of Poole, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Tuesday, March 3 after pleading guilty to two counts of robbery and one count of theft of a motor vehicle.

The court heard how Murray’s crime spree began on Thursday, October 16, 2025, when he stole a Mazda parked outside a home in Ashley Road in Poole.

Just two days later, in the early hours of Saturday, October 18, he used the stolen car to travel to Weymouth, where he forced his way into a property in Park Street.

Once inside, he threatened the occupant with a knife before stealing jewellery and aftershave and fleeing.

His offending continued the following weekend.

On the evening of Sunday, October 26, Murray approached a man in Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth, threatened him and stole his bag before running off.

Detectives launched investigations into all three incidents and linked them to Murray through a series of enquiries, including CCTV analysis and witness statements.

He was later arrested and charged, eventually admitting the offences in court.

Detective Constable Liam Moss of Dorset Police said: “Over a ten-day period, Murray stole a car and carried out two separate robberies. This must have been truly terrifying for the victims.

“Our enquiries into the incidents, which included scene examinations, CCTV trawls and taking witness statements, led us to Murray and I am pleased we have been able to bring him before the courts to face justice for his offending.”

Murray was sentenced to a total of ten years in prison.
