CCTV appeal after staff member choked out and stomped on in robbery in Wareham

A RAILWAY staff member in Wareham passed out when he was assaulted during a robbery last week.

British Transport Police said a man entered the ticket office at Wareham Railway Station at around 5.30pm on Monday (September 22) and grabbed a member of staff around the neck.

The man reportedly choked the staff member out causing him to pass out before stealing from the till.

He then stamped on the staff member’s chest before threatening him further.

Police have now released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to as part of the investigation.

Detective Constable Phil James said: “This is a serious and shocking incident involving an extreme level of violence against a member of rail staff.

“We are appealing for anyone to come forward who might have seen this man enter the ticket office through the car park, or anyone within the station who may have information that can assist our investigation.”
