Body found near Old Harry Rocks in Purbeck

OFFICERS searching for a missing man in Purbeck have found a body near Old Harry Rocks.

While formal identification has not yet taken place, officers believe the man to be 52-year-old Stephen Breen who was believed to have last been in the area of South Beach in Studland during yesterday evening (July 22).

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “At around 8.20am on July 23, officers sadly located the body of a man near to Old Harry Rocks.

“While the body has yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be 52-year-old Stephen Breen – who was believed to have last been in the area of South Beach in Studland during the evening of Monday, July 22.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and Stephen’s family has been informed.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Stephen Breen at this extremely difficult time.
“We would like to thank everyone who was involved in the searches, including HM Coastguard, Dorset Search and Rescue (DorSAR) and Wessex Rescue.”
