Man charged after suspected late-night stabbing

A POOLE man has been charged by police after another man suffered suspected stab wounds to the arm in the town’s High Street on Tuesday (September 23).

The attack reportedly took place just before 2.58am and the victim, a man in his 20s, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police quickly arrested a 42-year-old man from Poole, who is believed to be known to the victim.

He was subsequently charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court today (September 25).

Detective Sergeant Leo Christian, of BCP CID, said: “Following detailed enquiries, we have consulted with the Crown Prosecution Service, which has authorised charges against the individual in this case.

“This matter will be subject to active court proceedings and it is vital that the justice process is allowed to follow its course.

“We would therefore urge members of the public to refrain from speculation or commentary relating to this case, particularly online and on social media.”
