Woman suffers ‘life-threatening’ injuries in A35 crash near Dorchester

A WOMAN suffered ‘life-threatening’ injuries after a crash on the A35 near Dorchester.

The incident occurred near Tilly Whim Lane, between Dorchester and Winterbourne Abbas, at around 1.49pm on Sunday afternoon (December 1).

It involved a black Ford Fiesta, a white Seat Ibiza and a black Land Rover.

“Emergency services attended and a passenger from the Seat, a woman aged in her 50s, was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are believed to be life-threatening. Her family has been informed,” said a Dorset Police spokesperson.

“The driver of the Land Rover, a man aged in his 70s, was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not believed to be serious.

“Three further people were treated at the scene by the ambulance service but did not require hospital treatment.”

Road closures were put in place as an examination of the scene took place, with the road reopened at around 6.25pm.

Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, added: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I would urge any witnesses to the incident, or the manner of driving of the vehicles involved prior to it, to please contact us if you have not already spoken to police.

“I would also urge any motorists with dashcam who were travelling in the area to please check their footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding as I fully appreciate this incident resulted in the closure of a main route. The closure was absolutely necessary for the emergency services to respond and to allow for an examination of the collision scene to be conducted.”
