Hamworthy United secured a spot in the Southern League Division One South play-off final with a convincing win over Evesham United.
After returning to the starting XI, Will Fletcher made his mark after a smart move from Eddie Hodge set up the Poole Town loanee to give Hamworthy the lead.
Eddie Hodge was involved in the second goal too. He found the head of Sam Griffin who beat the keeper to make it 2-0 on the 35-minute mark.
Evesham came out for the second half swinging as Tommy Scott was called into action to deny Bright and Owens.
Moments after Scott’s heroics, the Hammers had a chance to add a third when Cameron Munn was brought down inside the box. Tony Rolls stepped up for the spot kick and dispatched it to put Hamworthy in the driving seat for a place in the play-off final.
Evesham kept on pushing for a way back into the game but time was running out. Deep into stoppage time, they got a penalty of their own when Will Owens was brought down but Kyle Belmonte dragged his spot kick wide.
Hamworthy now make the trip to Sholing on Monday (May 1) after the Boatmen progressed to the final with a 2-1 against Wimborne Town.
