Step into the magic of fungi at Happy River Retreat, tucked among the trees of Wareham Forest, Dorset. Join us for a hands-on mushroom growing workshop with Andy Knott of Jurassic Coast Mushrooms, one of Dorset’s most passionate and knowledgeable mushroom growers.

Whether you’re completely new to the world of fungi or have tried (and failed!) to grow your own before, this is the perfect chance to learn, get involved and get growing. Andy will guide you through simple propagation techniques you can use at home which will help you understand how mushrooms grow and thrive.

This interactive session will have you drilling and plugging your own mushroom log and making up an Oyster mushroom fruiting bag using native spawn and pasteurised straw. You’ll take both home, getting you ready to produce your very own fresh, delicious mushrooms.

We’ll explore different mushroom types, growing methods, and how to care for and harvest your fungi. You’ll also go home with easy-to-follow worksheets to keep your new knowledge alive. Delicious and plant based treats and drinks will be provided on the day.

Expect a fun, earthy, and inspiring day in nature — and the start of your own mushroom-growing adventure! Please note that lunch is not provided, only light refreshments.
